I work extensively with Candia Lutyens making tassels for light fittings made to Edwin Lutyen’s original designs. These can be made in any colour and to different sizes. The metal components of the tassels match the metal of the elaborate “cages”.
We have recently provided Cardinal Hat lights for the Lutyens Grill in The Ned hotel in London. This 5* hotel has been created by a collaboration between the Soho House Group and New York’s Sydell Group. The building was originally designed by Edwin Lutyens as the headquarters of the Midland Bank and has been sympathetically converted into a 252 room hotel and private members club. The Lutyens Grill is located in the old bank manager’s wood-panelled office.
This is the process of making the tassels:
I make cord in the appropriate colour which I use to cover the wooden moulds and to go through the middle of the tassel to hold everything together.
Here is a selection of different coloured tassels
Candia has also launched a contemporary range of furniture including a updated version of the cardinal hat light fitting using acrylic discs.
Stunning. Would love them in my home
