A while ago I was emailed, quite out of the blue, by someone asking if I could make some silk fringe for a wedding dress. I responded immediately, saying “yes, of course” but, to be honest I didn’t expect to hear from them ever again, it just seemed so unlikely.
Well, I was wrong. Lucy Anderson came straight back to me to explain that she was making the dress for a competition run by The Costume Society – The Janet Arnold Patterns of Fashion Award. She needed hand woven braid to make the dress as authentic as possible. Although the fringe was very simple and plain I think you’ll agree that the finished dress is amazing.
Although Lucy doesn’t have a web site you can see more of her fantastic work by following these links to Arts Thread and Tumblr and you can email her at

Although Lucy didn’t win the competition she was one of the finalists, which was brilliant!
